A conversation with American filmmaker Laura Poitras, who has chronicled America post-9/11 with her films. Along with Glenn Greenwald, she brought to light the documents of the NSA affair. At transmediale 2014, with Jacob Appelbaum and Trevor Paglen, Poitras will take part in the keynote event Art as Evidence, on January 30, 20.30-22.30, HKW

OCTO-P7C-1 Intertubular Pneumatic Packet Distribution System was transmediale 2013's Official Miscommunication Platform. Last December, during the 30C3 Chaos Computer Club Congress a development of OCTO-P7C-1 named Seidenstrasse was collaboratively created. Seidenstrasse is a revision of the OCTO installation as an Open Artwork. 

"Taking care of Things!" workshop in Lüneberg from January 15th till January 18th and Micropolitics of the Post-Digital: From street protests to transitional spaces in Brazil panel at the transmediale festival on Sunday the 2nd of February at 12.00. 

Focusing upon the material aspects of data storage and transmission devices, Molten Media examines the flux of media and matter through the interconnection between velocity and density. This research applies a deep-time perspective to a rapid-cycling throwaway media culture, projecting an alternate timescale for its material existence.

 

The festival for technology-based art is soon coming to Berlin! So far the festival has only been held in Russia and will now be outside St. Petersburg for the first time. It will be happening in Berlin from the 13th till the 17th of November in the WYE. reSource transmediale will also be giving its contribution to the programme during these five days of CYBERFEST.

How do we find conscious ways of being active, both in the digital and the physical sphere, without just becoming part of a system of data overflow? On the 5th of November the Urban Knights is taking place in Berlin for the third time this autumn. The event starts at 7 pm in the Betahaus at Prinzessinenstrasse. A reSource project presentation takes place there at this time.
 

The 5th International Conference on the Histories of Media Art, Science and Technology – RENEW, is hosted by RIXC Centre for New Media Culture in Riga in partnership with the Art Academy of Latvia, Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and Danube University’s Center for Image Science.

Addressing Post-digital Research, the conference/workshop relates to the artistic call of transmediale 2014, and asks how to formulate research questions, research methods, and research dissemination in the light of an "afterglow" of the digital revolution. The last meeting of the reSource-net community, hosted by c-base, was dedicated to the proposal of co-building the transmediale and CTM's partner programme, Vorspiel, by creating a process of sharing and synergy among the individuals and the spaces that are part of the reSource network, or close to it.

The conference and workshop Researching BWPWAP – referring to the cancellation of Pluto’s planetary status in 2006, BWPWAP (Back When Pluto Was a Planet), the 2013 edition of the transmediale festival – took place in November 2012 in Lüneburg, Germany, organised jointly by Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Aarhus University and the reSource transmedial culture/transmediale.
