Sonia Landy Sheridan

Sonia Landy Sheridan is a visual artist, educator and founder of the Generative Systems program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since the early 1960ies, and in cooperation with scientists, engineers, artists or her students, Sheridan has been exploring the implications and creative possibilities of communications technology for the arts. She has worked with more than 30 different technologies, including copiers like the 3M VQC, 3M Color-in-Color, Thermofax as well as early computer graphics software like EASEL.

Sonia Landy Sheridan's work is part of the permanent collections such as, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Daniel Langlois Foundation, the Fundacion Telefonica, the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, the Museum of Science & Industry, Chicago, the National Gallery of Canada, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.
