Another atmospherically cryptic scratch collage by Wim Liebrand. With only a few visual elements, rhythmically offset against each other and linked by a minimalist sound level, he creates a tragi-comic mood in which recurrent references to the Third Reich and German technology - from the V2 to the Mercedes - provoke some unease on the part of the viewer. His deft scratch technique conveys a sensation of frenzied standstill. A German car racing towards - what? Catastrophe? Apparently, however, it is rooted to the spot. Historical continuity? The same engines in different bodies? These visual miniatures are time-bombs which tick on in the mind.
