Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev (* 1957 in New Jersey, USA) is an author, art historian and curator. Since 2002 she has been director of the Turin Castello Rivoli, a museum of contemporary art. She is the artistic director of Documenta 13, which will be held 2012th Christov-Bakargiev studied in Pisa, literature and art history and completed her studies with a thesis on the relationship between contemporary art and literature, magna cum laude. As an independent exhibition curator, she organized in 1993 for the Venice Biennale in an homage to John Cage. Christov-Bakargiev 1999 took a job as a curator at New York's PS1, an offshoot of the Museum of Modern Art In addition to its global Kuratorinnentätigkeit she was a jury member at the 49th Venice Biennale and director of the Biennale of Sydney in 2008.
