The digital catalogue of PNEUMAtic CircUS was launched on Monday 8th of July at Laboratorio 21, Viareggio (Italy).
At transmediale 2013 the mail art pioneer Vittore Baroni invited over a hundred international mail artists to contribute pneumatic post capsules containing instructions and scores to be used by transmediale festival visitors for small actions and performances. Almost half a year later the project is still evolving and finally a multimedia catalogue was published utilising the innovative structure of pneumatic post OCTO P7C-1 and involving approximately one hundred authors from sixteen nations.
Present in the event were Tatiana Bazzichelli, networked art researcher and curator of transmediale, and designer Jonas Frankki, a member of the Berlin collective Telekommunisten, who created the original platform together with Raumlaborberlin and reSource transmedial culture berlin of the transmediale Festival and many more guests.
With the help of a small-scale prototype of OCTO, a number of local and international artists presented short performances from the content of the capsules. An open workshop allowed the visitors to create their own creative messages – and send them instantly. The event was concluded with a DJ set by MGZ – Mauro Guazzotti.
