LVA is the national centre for video art in the UK with commitments in distribution, exhibition, production and training. The programme is a selection of the latest UK works, using electronic technology & language in innovative and articulate ways. Atthe mo- mentthe two main contexts within which video artisproducedare broadcasts installation, creating both artistic S financial possibilities for artists in the field. The expense of newtechnotogy has restricted the amountofunfunded workbyyoung artists at the expense of more lavish productions by establishedfigures, nevertheless through LVA facilities many pieces are made which would otherwise be impossible - for example Julie Kuzminska's "Arc ha os ". The use of computer animation is constantly expanding, pieces by Simon Biggs, John Butler and Lei Cox are masterful computergenerated gems. Subjectivity, identity & relationships are explored in more personal & lyrical pieces suchasKateMeynell's "As She Opened Her Eyes". This cross section reveals the diverse video practice in the UK - a creative medium in vital expansion.
