The Beursschouwburg is a centre for contemporay arts. Our program shows a variety of activities: theatre, music, film, video, plastic arts, lectures. Thus video is integrated in a larger unity alternating with the other arts.
We have presented films and videos of Gary Hill, George Kuchar, Stuart Sherman, Andy Warhol, Marcel Broodthaers, Fischli & Weiss, Shelly Silver, Jean- Christophe Averty, Samuel Beckett, John Baldessari,...
But we are also very active in the field of Belgian (especially Flemish) video. We support the production, we distribute the tapes, we open a collection of the history of Belgian video-art (André Colinet, Jo Huybrechts, Koen and Frank Theys, Gorik Lindemans, Harald Thys). Probably, the Beursschouwburg will be rebuilt during the summer of 92.
