Cairography is based on conversations and stories of two befriended non-Egyptian women whose relationship to Cairo ranged between paranoia over feeling constantly surveilled and nonchalance as a performance of resistence. Choreographer Dalia Naous and video artist Kinda Hassan try to challenge social restrictions through bodily gestures and movements as well as unexpected behaviour. They examine the visible and invisible barriers between the public and the private space. What is it like to walk on the streets of Cairo? What is permitted and what is forbidden?
