Three Merseyside girl-led bands, Flamingo 50, Venus and Exit 3 were invited by artist Kristin Lucas to write and record new songs about their own visions of the future. Sometimes wistful, often defiant, the songs reflect the young women’s concerns with the environment and global politics as well as personal dreams and aspirations. These performances and recordings form the core of Celebrations for Breaking Routine and give insight into a generation whose Imagination of a future world is molded by a sense of realism and anxiety.
