Polish Video Art Data Bank is a private organization founded in 1988 to collect, publish and propagate information on Polish video art. The collection consists of tapes as well as other documents concerning video art in Poland. Since, for financial and technical reasons, the PVADB is not able to function as a distributor, it presents historical programmes or compilation on videomakers or aspects of Polish video art, and promotes video art among the general public and art circles. Therefore, many presentations of international video productions and other events (seminars, artists’ meetings, lectures) have been organized. Since November 1991, PVADB is a member of European Video Services.
The Centre for Contemporary Arts was created in 1988. The heart of the Centre’s programme is the presentation of art in the process of its transformation. It creates conditions for the presentation of most outstanding instances of work and also aims at the revitalization of the art world through active intervention in the flow of ideas on art to the public. The Film & Video Centre was founded in March, 1990, as a part of the CCA. It presents classic and contemporary film works of the avant-garde as well as explorations by video artists. The Film & Video Centre holds screenings in the CCA Laboratory twice a month, and is building up a video collection.
