20 years after his first trip to Cuba Jon Alpert studies the state of things - more than often a standstill, especially because of the US instigated blockade. Too little food, and hardly any gasoline, etc. And yet none of his old or new acquaintances seemed depressed, or give the impression of having given up.
His 82 year old friend even beats him at a bout of arm wrestling. The highlight: an improvised interview with Fidel Castro, whom Alpert brings three bottles of American beer - in order that he feels paid, and to make him share, at his best, a few ironic- critical remarks on present-day US-politics.
