A sick woman dies - hardly an unusual case. However, she had been prescribed a medication that in certain cases was suspected of causing death. This suspicion existed for years, and warnings were made public by critical medical physicians. Following proven cases of death the medication was banned in Great Britain and the US. Still, the paint manufacturer Hoechst allowed its distribution on the German market. The Federal Health Board was aware of all the facts. It took no action.
