Issue#4
Issue#4
Following the 2020 transmediale festival End to End and its exhibition The Eternal Network, this issue features contributions from artists, activists, and theorists who engage with the question of the network anew. Informing these texts is the notion of the limitations of networks now being more tangible than their endless possibilities: limitations concerning networks both as cultural imaginary and as concrete technology for organizing sociality. This is reflected in articles and conversations promoting understandings of networks that don’t reject their limitations but rather productively use these as starting points for outlining new cultural practices. Along with further contributions, the contents of this issue can also be found in the book The Eternal Network – The Ends and Becomings of Network Culture which was jointly published by transmediale and The Institute of Network Cultures, Amsterdam, in 2020.
