Johnny, be good! - The Camouflage of Cybernetics
Johnny, be good! - The Camouflage of Cybernetics
An epistemological commentary on the devious route towards an electronic age - or - What's the H-Bomb got to do with the computer? The opening session will be dedicated to making clear why János Neumann is eponymous to our epistemological Salon for media research and the arts.
A live video talk by Wolfgang Hagen followed by a panel discussion with Wolfgang Hagen, Till Nikolaus von Heiseler, Wolfgang Ernst and Jan-Peter E.R. Sonntag.
Wolfgang Hagen is one of the most important media theorists in Germany. Hagen is the chief editor of the media & culture department at Deutschlandradio Kultur, the public radio station. His most recent book is The Radio. In the discussion he will present his central thesis: "The media predates us. How does this affect our future?"
Wolfgang Ernst is a media researcher and scholar of Friedrich Kittler. Ernst examines concrete media operations and, by rethinking Kittler's historical perspective, tends towards constructing a universal media archeology.
The series is a cooperation between transmediale - festival for art and digital culture berlin, the Berlin-based artistic research association Formatlabor and the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin.
The event will be in German language.
