A fusion of documentary footage showing urban life in New York, with the structure of fictional narrative. The discovery of a lost book, full of jottings on places, things and people, provides the narrative map for explorations which often lead to hidden aspects of the city. Drawing on Walter Benjamin's "flâneur", Cohen spent 5 years compiling a complex archive of imagery which, supported by an apparently incidental off-narration, acquires strong poetic force.
