Methuselah
Methuselah
A further portrait of the 82-year- old dancer Ernest Berk, which, like Hanno Baethe's "STAY-just a moment" uses an experimental approach to draw a fragmentary picture of this man - and especially his attitude toward age and aging. For it’s a matter of attitude and attunement: sure your skin gets wrinkly, and the flesh becomes weak, but they also become different, take on a life of their own, become more interesting, the way that one becomes fascinated by old, contorted trees, with all their knots and cracks. Why should you be ashamed of your body, and what does it say anyway about the pulse of life inside? The clock is running, yes, but as long as you still have a feeling for your own time and your own body, that clock is just another dumb machine.
