The video 'Once in Europe" could be called a musical art documentary collage recalling the atmosphere of the 20 ‘s in Riga. Jazz came to Riga from Berlin as newsreels of those years document. Motives of Hesse's 'Steppenwolf" have been used for scenic purposes to discuss the artistic life of Latvia within the context of European culture. There are two interrelated parts: documents concur with specifically stated sequences. Renowned figures from the fields of dance, music and literature meet in a world that could have been created by Hesse. The soundtrack uses both ancient and present day recordings of jazz. Expressionism is also essential to the authors of this video.
