Levin developed the Software Audiovisual Environment Suite as part of his doctoral thesis at MIT. The Environment is a set of five interactive systems that enable the user to create abstract animations and sounds in real time. Each of the five elements is an experimental attempt to create an interface. On the one hand, the interface is intended to be both flexi­ble and easy to use, and on the other it should provide unlimited possibilities for individual audio and visual expression. Scribble is a performance that adapts the programs for two computers. Levin has developed a composition that makes full use of the complete artistic spectrum provided by the Audiovisual Environment and thereby creates a unique synaesthetic experience.
