– coming for us, signs from the fabric of machines that apparently count on us – with virtuosity, migrants play poker with the idleness of their inclusions – the desire of the pictures, to be completely with oneself, no longer escapes into the fog’s protection – chroniclers change sides, not without intention – tumults are present at short moments of historical shadows – panoptic glances do not become present without us – heidi, from the land of the introverts, wanted to encounter the improbable – a wanderer encounters a tree – what remains? – delete us – i remember – and
Substitut is an independent non-profit space and platform for art from Switzerland in Berlin founded by Urs Küenzi in 2007. The venue encourages a long term international exchange. The name Substitut plays with notions of institute, subculture and even subversion. The name reflects the fact that it does not constitute a pure alternative space or an institution, but a mixture. The name Substitut can also be seen as a critical representation of art in society.
