mib Ltd. is a cultural enterprise which developed at the end of the Eighties out of a research project of the HdK Berlin and the Media Institute at the MD Berlin established in 1992. mib productions can be divided into commissioned works for museums and businesses, and independent projects, whereby the amount of artistically autonomous works will be greater in the future. Furthermore, mib productions distinguish themselves in that they are themselves stages in a dynamic process of technologisation. Hence initially the idea of "visual argumentations" had priority, whereas today it is rather contributions to a "multimedia text". Formally, studies on complex systems and on simplified visualisations, i.e. navigation, are gaining importance. In content, traditional reference is still indispensable for the technological makeup, although even here independence from traditional visual know-how is making headway. The ten member team of mib Ltd is made up of artists, scholars and engineers. Tivola Electronic Publishing was founded in 1995 and has made itself a name in the field of edutainment products on CD-ROM. Tivola offers series of titles: interactive children's stories, interactive detective stories, interactive factual tales, and short games to tax you brain, your luck or skill for those moments in between. Tivola's titles are created with the assistance of successful authors, illustrators, musicians and sound effect technicians. First class production companies are responsible for their technical realisation. TXT was established in order to give small and middle-size German- language publishers the possibility to present themselves on the Internet. A central web server (http:llwww.txt.de) is to be developed, in which potential readers and professionals - for instance, journalists - can inform themselves about the latest publications, read text excerpts and have access to audio-files with readings by authors. Erich Maas and Ulf Schleth will present the server's current stage of development.
