Leopold II, second king of Belgium, owned central Africa as a personal property and wanted to make of Brussels the most beautiful capital of Western Europe (he failed obviously). He founded an international geographic society called colonization, visited many world fairs and bought here and there a national pavilion which he then reerected in Brussels. This great dream of the king is here visualized and "completed" in some aberrant way
