Declan Clarke (born 1974) studied Fine Arts at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and at the Chelsea College of Art in London. In 2012 he was short-listed to represent Ireland at the Venice Biennale 2013. Recent solo exhibitions include Wreckage in May at Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane in Dublin (2015) and Group Portrait with Explosives at Mother’s Tankstation in Dublin (2014). Forthcoming exhibitions are Der Geist Trilogie at Tromsø Kunstforening in Norway, Christensen in Kristiania at Temple Bar Gallery in Dublin, at Belfast Exposed, and at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris (all 2016).
