Helena Velena was born in Bologna in a male body; in 1979, still under a male name but already "transgender" without knowing it, Helena was one of the initiators of the Italian and Bolognese punk scene. In 1993 she finally turned into Helena and adopted a feminine identity, thereby fromulating the definition of "transgender" contrarily to and beyond the theories that only classified it as a pathological condition. From this moment on, Helena started to deal with communication technologies and their role in the field of sexuality.
