With Shaka McGlotten, Sharif Mowlabocus, Kaciano Gadelha
The concepts of "location" and "radar" are increasingly emerging as tied to the notion of "profile" in smart technology hook-up apps, an experience in your pocket and “touch-full” via its smartphones and tablet devices. The idea of body, intended not just as subject but also as space of action, finds a sprawl of different actualisations opening into a new theoretical and physical model. In a theoretical perspective this opens the emerging research field “geographies of sexualities” to the afterglow of media studies, between Queer Theory and Urban Planning. This panel aims to define an epistemological frame shaped by the English media theorist Sharif Mowlabocus. Kaciano Gadelha will present an insight into the Web 2.0 and hook-up apps. The media theorist and researcher Shaka McGlotten moderates the panel.
