Liu Wei is an independent artist living and working in Beijing. He graduated from the China Central Academy of Drama and completed his studies at the Philosophy Department of the Beijing University. His works are closely related to personal experience and memory, as well as the reality and rapidly changing history of contemporary China. He using various forms, such as puppets, Braille and sign language, he tries to express his personal observations and feelings towards the reality, as well as to reflect his confrontation to today's indifferent society. He's works have been exhibited at many art institutions internationally including at the Centre Pompidou, France; ZKM Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe; Nasher Museum of Art, U.S; Musée Fabre, France; The Centre of Contemporary Art Palau de la Virreina, Spain; the Haus der Kulturen der Welt , The Guangdong Museum of Art;Taipei Fine Art Museum and SESC Art Centre, Brazil etc.
