Interdiscipline Media Art
Teaching digital media in art schools. The formation phase of digital media art - after courageous foundations of museums and academies in the early nineties - is over. Electronic and digital media now belong to the canon of art and are taught at most art schools. Digital media, more than other forms of art, imply an inter-disciplinary approach between images, sounds and words, between design, navigation and interactive story telling. How should art schools define their curricula in a field that has no fixed canon and that is subject to continuous change in technical, theoretical and practical aspects? What kind of new teaching method do art schools need, and traditions should be maintained? How will teaching change and will these changes be accepted by established faculties?
