With the dissolving of the categories for the award competition, transmediale.05 opens itself up more to acoustic digital art, an area rather under-represented in past festivals. In co-operation with the club transmediale, was assembled a selection of sound projects from the submissions to the transmediale. 05 competition and from the artists presented in the club programme. With the various components of the ‘Live Cinema' Series, the interest is focused on the Interweaving of visual and acoustic forms and questions of performative practices; BASIC SOUND, however, concentrates above all on listening. At the ‘Listening Stations', a number of musical and compositional approaches will be presented which have been developed in the context of today’s digital reality and represent a variety of working methodologies and sound directions. In the overall audio-visual amplitude of the festival, the 'Listening Stations’ offer the opportunity to concentrate fully on one form of perception - so listen up!
