With the Vilém Flusser Residency Programme for Artistic Research, the _vilém_flusser_archive at the University of Arts (UDK) and transmediale are calling upon artistic research to actively explore the capabilities and limitations of transdisciplinary and transmedial situations in contemporary culture. | Submission Deadline: 1 December 2013

 

CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE is an artistic research and production residency which approaches the resources and reserves of materials, energies, signals and data behind it all. The project is a series of workshops and public events leading to an artwork for transmediale 2014 afterglow, a collaboration of artist-technologists Jamie Allen and David Gauthier.
 

The 5th International Conference on the Histories of Media Art, Science and Technology – RENEW, is hosted by RIXC Centre for New Media Culture in Riga in partnership with the Art Academy of Latvia, Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and Danube University’s Center for Image Science.

Addressing Post-digital Research, the conference/workshop relates to the artistic call of transmediale 2014, and asks how to formulate research questions, research methods, and research dissemination in the light of an "afterglow" of the digital revolution. The last meeting of the reSource-net community, hosted by c-base, was dedicated to the proposal of co-building the transmediale and CTM's partner programme, Vorspiel, by creating a process of sharing and synergy among the individuals and the spaces that are part of the reSource network, or close to it.

The digital catalogue of PNEUMAtic CircUS was launched on 8 July at Laboratorio 21 in Viareggio. At transmediale 2013 mail art pioneer Vittore Baroni had invited over a hundred international mail artists to contribute pneumatic post capsules containing instructions and scores to be used by festival visitors for small actions and performances.

Public Art Lab hosted the last reSource meeting on Monday 3 June and gathered a nice group of people to discuss forms of collaboration and communication with the public.

The conference and workshop Researching BWPWAP – referring to the cancellation of Pluto’s planetary status in 2006, BWPWAP (Back When Pluto Was a Planet), the 2013 edition of the transmediale festival – took place in November 2012 in Lüneburg, Germany, organised jointly by Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Aarhus University and the reSource transmedial culture/transmediale.

In the time-frame 11 May - 3 June, the reSource curator Tatiana Bazzichelli will travel to Brazil to discover local and translocal events, projects and institutions working critically with art, technology, politics and identity.

Another transmediale is over and we would like to thank all the reSource 003: P2P Vorspiel participants for their involvement during a great pre-festival weekend. Exhibitions, workshops, performances, talks, concerts and parties distributed among 35 venues all over Berlin made the weekend before transmediale and CTM festival a very special moment.
